Waiting for A Plane
One of the first things people asked for, and one of the highest hit pages on the site, is the lyrics to Julian's song - Waiting For A Plane - which were posted as a news article within a few days of us all returning home.
Now that the dust has settled, normality (such as it is) has returned, and despite all the trauma through which Julian has been - Julian has recorded and sent me a CD with a studio session of Waiting For A Plane. This has also been posted as a news article - and has seen a large amount of hits.
But - due to the popular demand generated by the song (they even want to include the lyrics in a tribute book of poetry following the terrorist attacks) I felt it was sensible to include this user page as a more visible "Thank you" to Julian for providing all of us with a song which conjures up all that was good about our stay - it's also a big hit with passengers' family members, both old and young!
You will need a player for MP3 format files - newer versions of Windows Media Player will do, but the best (in my opinion) is still WinAmp.

 ALL ALONG THE WATERFRONT
 WAITING FOR A PLANE
A 1000 MILES AWAY FROM HOME
 WE SHOULD BE PLUM INSANE
BUT OUR PLATES ARE NEVER EMPTY
 LORD THEY’RE FEEDING US AGAIN
A THOUSAND MILES AWAY FROM HOME
 AND WAITING FOR A PLANE

 I PULLED UP TO A PICK-UP TRUCK
JUST TO MAKE A LINE OF TALK
THEY SAID NO NEED TO BE BORED MY FRIEND
 WE’VE ORGANISED A WALK
WELL WE MAY BE HERE A WEEK OR TWO
BUT YOU’VE TAKEN AWAY THE PAIN
WE FEEL RIGHT AT HOME IN GAMBO
AND WE’RE WAITING FOR A PLANE

WE’RE SLEEPING IN A CHURCH HERE
 LIKE WE’VE NEVER DONE BEFORE
WE’RE STRETCHED ON COTS AND BENCHES
 SOME SLEEPING ON THE FLOOR
WE’RE HEADING FOR THE GUINNESS BOOK
 FOR THE ALL-TIME LOUDEST SNORE
 IT’S GREAT TERRAIN
 WE’RE FULL AGAIN
 BEEN A LITTLE RAIN
 BUT WE’RE TAKING THE STRAIN
 A LITTLE INSANE
 BUT IN THE MAIN
 WE CAN’T COMPLAIN…..
WE’RE JUST WAITING FOR A PLANE

 Additional verse:

NOW WE’RE BACK IN OUR OWN WORLD
 WE’VE LEFT THE TREES BEHIND
 OLDER AND SOMEWHAT WISER PARTS
OF THIS MESS WE CALL MANKIND
 NOW EVERYTHING LOOKS DIFFERENT
 IN WAYS WE CAN’T EXPLAIN
WE’VE SEEN THE BEST THAT WE CAN BE
WHILE WE WERE WAITING FOR A PLANE
