Badger, NFLD flood, help needed, info below
Posted on: 2003-02-21 09:55:41 (read: 2327 times)
|
Anonymous writes: "The town of Badger, Newfoundland has been devastated by a flash flood that came on in minutes leaving the town decimated and people with literally seconds to get out of their houses. Water levels are up to 6 feet, and to make matters worse it is winter here, so the water has froze and the town is encased in ice in an eerie scene. Pictures can be seen on both links below. The first link is for the Badger relief fund. Anything at all will help.
Take care,
A Newfoundlander.

Anonymous writes: "I was able to record the MSNBC story on UA929 today. As soon as I got home from work I watched it. The story was great. Just seeing Captain Ballard brought tears to my eyes. And listening to everyone interviewed tell of their experience brought it all flooding back.
Thank you to all of who contributed to the story. And thank you Dan for getting an early warning email out about the airing of the story. I will treasure the video forever.
God bless all the UA929 passengers, citizens of Gander and Gambo, and especially the folks of the Gambo Salvation Army. My thoughts are with you.

Today Show segment
Posted on: 2002-03-11 15:37:55 (read: 552 times)
|
Cathy writes: "Did anyone catch the segment on the Today Show this morning (3-11) regarding the planes landing in Gander? They had footage from one of the passengers on one of our "neighbor" planes while we were stuck on 929. The group they followed went to Lewisport (?), but they also were put up at a Salvation Army and they even showed the santuary there and people trying to sleep on the pews. Needless to say, it brought back many memories ~ some fond, some not so fond (sorry to all of you snorers!).
I've been reflecting today especially about that day six months ago, and it seems like just yesterday.
Hugs,
Cathy (Indianapolis)"
